LEGO® Trains (9V) 4559 Cargo Railway set

An older set from Tom’s collection [4559 Cargo Railway] out on display for variety.

We got together at the home of host Tom Cook on Saturday, February 22, 2003. Participants in attendance: Tom Cook, Christina Hitchcock, Abe Friedman, Margaret Keys, Constantine Hannaher, Michael Harrod.

Tom Cook and his revised layout

Tom had rearranged his track layout to include an elevated portion.

ATSF locomotive tests the lower level of track

But, as this BNSF Dash 8 in warbonnet livery is about to discover, the supports’ 8–wide friendliness was less than ideal.

Michael’s lineup of motive power and rolling stock

Michael had a selection of cars behind the locomotive from the 4565 Freight & Crane Railway.

Margaret builds in the corner

Margaret built the mail car version of 10025 Santa Fe Cars Set I.

Christina builds a train

Christina built the 4708 Harry Potter Hogwart’s Express.

Christina also shared her photographs and impressions from visiting LEGOLAND California. Constantine had a spectacular crash when his ex–Conrail Dash 9–C44W experienced trouble in the aft truck on an elevated switch and the two following CSX MOW locos (with sturdier B trucks) simply pushed the longer locomotive off the overpass and continued on their way. There was much discussion regarding the future of the club.
