World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour in Chantilly, Virginia on February 11–12, 2006

We had a display on February 11–-12, 2006 at the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Participants in attendance: Tom Cook, Bob Hayes, Abe Friedman, Constantine Hannaher, Mike Harrod, Tony Perez, Derek Schin, and Ian Rabusseau. The table transport by Denise Jadud and Kevin Loch is appreciated. Additional creations by Joseph C. Meno. Our layout by Bob Hayes and by Tom Cook. Guest: Karl W. Reinsch.

Setup

Setup was documented somewhat more than other occasions because it was scheduled for very early Saturday morning. Mike was the first one on the scene.

Overview

We’re missing Kevin’s downtown but one can hardly tell with Abe’s asylum and helipad-supporting office tower, Tom’s somewhat less tall office tower, and Mike’s ziggurat anchoring the corner instead.

Suburbia

Bob’s Bascule Bridge

The floor in Chantilly was cleaner than that of the venue that inspired Bob’s desire to build a moving bridge, but the ability to enter the layout without crawling remained popular.

Trains!

Structures

Bob did not model his station after any particular station. Derek’s observatory did in fact rotate. Constantine was almost good for four tables’ worth.
